Matthew 6:25-34KJV
25Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Psalm 23KJV
1The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Selah. 4There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. 5God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early. 6The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted. 7The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah. 8Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he hath made in the earth. 9He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire. 10Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. 11The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Mark 4:35-41KJV
35And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. 36And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. 37And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. 38And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? 39And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? 41And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

A prayer for anxiety and fear
Pray it slowly, in your own words if you like.
Father, my mind will not be still. You know every thought I keep turning over and every fear I have not said out loud. I bring them to You now, because Your Word tells me to cast all my care upon You, for You care for me.
Jesus, You spoke peace to the wind and the waves. Speak peace to the storm in me. Thank You that You have not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Holy Spirit, keep my heart and mind in the peace that passes understanding. When I am afraid, help me to trust in You. Teach me to take today as it comes and leave tomorrow in Your hands. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
What the Bible says about anxiety
What does the Bible say about anxiety?
Scripture never treats worry as something to hide. It invites us to bring it to God. Philippians 4:6-7 tells us to pray about everything with thanksgiving, and promises that “the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Jesus Himself reminds us in Matthew 6 that our Father already knows what we need.
What is the best Bible verse for anxiety?
Many people turn first to Philippians 4:6-7, 1 Peter 5:7 (“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you”) and Isaiah 41:10 (“Fear thou not; for I am with thee”). The best verse is the one you can carry with you, so pick one from this page and memorize it this week.
What does “Be careful for nothing” mean in Philippians 4:6?
In the King James English of 1611, “careful” meant “full of care” or anxious. Paul is saying, “Do not be anxious about anything,” and then gives the alternative: prayer, supplication and thanksgiving.
Is it a sin to feel anxious?
Feeling fear is part of being human. Even David wrote, “What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee” (Psalm 56:3). The Bible’s focus is on what we do with fear: bring it to God and trust Him with it. If anxiety is constant or overwhelming, talking with a pastor, a trusted friend or a counselor is a wise and faithful step too.
How many times does the Bible say “fear not”?
The phrase “fear not” appears dozens of times in the King James Bible, often spoken by God or an angel at the very moment someone has reason to be afraid. It is almost always paired with a reason: God is with you.
